NEW HOMES
BUILDING A NEW HOME?
A poorly insulated home loses a lot of heat - around 35% through the ceiling, up to 20% through the windows and 25% through the walls. Installing quality insulation will help to reduce this heat loss and ensures that your new home will meet the energy efficiency requirements stated in the Building Code.
If you want a high-performance home, the team from S.L.A.B. Insulation recommend that you exceed the minimum standards set out in the Building Code and choose products with greater R-values.
Current minimums in areas we operate:
Ceiling R6.6 -Hawkes Bay, Manawatu
to achieve this we would recommend either a double layer system of R3.6 where possible or a single layer of R7 ceiling.
Walls R2 -Hawkes Bay, Manawatu
to achieve this we would recommend R2.4 at minimum to the exterior walls, R2.6 or R2.8 would be ultimate
Whether you are building your dream home, or are a builder completing a new build for a client, you can rely on us to install your insulation on time and with close attention paid to detail. Our team is courteous, friendly and pride ourselves on our professionalism.

RENTALS and RENOVATIONS
RENOVATING YOUR HOME?
Insulating your home is the single most effective measure you can take to keep your home warm and to save money on energy bills. A well-insulated home will provide year-round comfort.
Installing or even improving your insulation will increase the amount of heat kept inside your home. This means your home heats up quicker and requires less energy to stay warm. As a result, saving you money.
A poorly insulated home uses up to 30% more energy to heat than one with insulation installed correctly. This makes insulation one of the smartest investments you can make in your home. Insulation in most cases is generally a “one-off install”. It pays to get this right with experienced installers.
From 1st July 2019 all rental homes are to have a minimum of 70mm insulation in the ceiling and underfloor insulation. From 1st July 2021, rental homes require a top up of ceiling insulation to 120mm minimum and underfloor to have ground vapour barrier installed (if the floor is fully enclosed). Extraction and ventilation are also part of the criteria.
Rental Requirements for Insulation Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and Gisborne are:
Ceiling Minimum of R2.9 or 120mm
Floor Minimum of R1.3
Walls (if possible) R1.9
We recommend a minimum of R3.6 segment for ceilings with nothing present. For underfloor we recommend a minimum of R1.5, but prefer R1.8 for better performance longterm.

“Having had the opportunity to work for this company briefly to help out a friend I can see that this company are interested more in providing a great service and doing the best they can for the customer rather than being more interested in the bottom dollar. Personally, I have found that the product they use, Earthwool, is a much better product than Pinkbatts. If you are wanting a good product, installed to proper standards, with a company that really does the best they can, give Blair a call. I promise you will not be sorry.”
